Helpful Tips
--  Shrubs or flowers should not be planted any closer than 18 inches from your outside unit.  The unit needs room to breath.

--  Change your filter one (1) time per month.

--   A properly maintained air conditioner system removes up to 25 gallons of water per day.  That's why your air conditioner drain system needs to be cleaned annually.  A clogged air conditioner drain could cause water to pool and overflow into your home.

--   It's a great idea to have an annual inspection/precision tune-up of your air conditioner & furnace, all manufacturers recommend it.

--  A new more effecient system could save you 100's of dollars in fuel bills and actually pay for itself over time.

--  Your outside heating/cooling system should never be covered.  Nature's rain actually helps clean dust and dirt off the unit.

--  A bigger system is not always a better system for you.  If your system is too big for your home it will cool or heat your home too quickly.  Your thermostat will be cooled or warmed first and will turn your system off before the remainder of your home is cooled or heated.

--  Never block the air conditioner filters in your home.  Some folks have good intentions and put plants or furniture directly in front of the "return air" of their unit.  This causes your unit to have to work harder to "breath in" air.  Just think, if you covered your mouth with your hand you may find it more difficult to breat in air.  If you system has to work harder it will use more energy causing your energy bill to be higher.

--  It is a good idea to know where you breaker/fuse box is located in your home.  And you should know which breaker/fuse is assigned to your heating/cooling system.  In case of an emergency you will be able to turn the power off only to your system if necessary.

--If you live in a dry climate it is ok to leave your thermostat fan on.  This will keep the air in your home circulating, actually filters the air, and keeps the temperature in your home more even.
